Resolved, That the 73rd General Convention commend the government of the Republic of South Africa for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The commission and its chair, the Most Rev. Desmond Tutu, have set a splendid example of Christian principle in forgoing revenge and forgiving those perpetrators of apartheid injustices who have been willing to confess their deeds.

Resolved, the House of Deputies concurring, That the 73rd General Convention commend the new government for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The Commission and its chair, the Most Rev. Desmond Tutu, have set a splendid example of Christian principle at its best in forgoing revenge and forgiving the perpetrators of injustice under apartheid who have been willing to confess their deeds.
