The House of Deputies Committee on World Mission presented its Report #32 on Resolution A134 (Mission Partners) and moved adoption of a substitute.

Original Text of Resolution:

(A134)

Resolved, the House of Bishops concurring, That the 76th General Convention of The Episcopal Church build upon the work of Companions in Transformation; and recognizing our desire to work towards mutuality in mission, we resolve to change the name of all our mission personnel in ministry around the Anglican Communion from “Missionary” to “Mission Partner.”

Committee Substitute:

Resolved, the House of Bishops concurring, That the 76th General Convention of The Episcopal Church direct the Standing Commission on World Mission to continue its exploration of the appropriate role, function, ministry, nomenclature and support of global missionaries of this Church in the 21st century; and be it further

Resolved, That within eighteen months of this Convention, the Standing Commission on World Mission report its findings and recommendations to the Executive Council and the 77th General Convention for appropriate action by each body.
