Resolved, That the General Convention directs the Office of Government Relations to advocate for legislation, funding, and services which address the inequities in healthcare, housing, nutrition, and education affecting the quality of life of Native Peoples; and be it further

Resolved, That The Episcopal Church also seeks to address the issue that American Indians/Alaska Natives/Native Hawaiians also face much higher rates of poverty, incarceration, and unemployment than the total population; and be it further

Resolved, That congregations and dioceses educate themselves on the inequities and engage in local and state advocacy.

Abstract:   The 80th General Convention directs the Office of Government Relations to advocate for legislation, funding, and services which address the inequities affecting the quality of life of Native Peoples and urges congregations and dioceses to engage in local and state advocacy.

The committee introduction for the final text in the Journal has the wrong report number and resolution title. This has been corrected in the Acts of Convention database.

Many resolutions concurred by the House of Bishops on Day 3 resulted in two messages being sent to the House of Deputies. The Acts of Convention followed the Journal Editor’s lead in using the second message number as the official message. House of Bishops Message #343 was preceded by House of Bishops Message #277.
