Resolved, That this 68th General Convention applaud the grace, the courage, and the leadership of Desmond Tutu, Bishop in the Church of God, as he struggles to end the evil of apartheid in his pursuit of a course of non-violent self-determination toward majority rule in South Africa, and watch with admiration the powerful witness to the love of Christ being shown by his suffering Church in the Province of South Africa; and be it further

Resolved, That at a time each day to be set by the Presiding Bishop for the House of Bishops, and by the President of the House of Deputies for that House, each House rise and join in prayers for peace in South Africa, for justice and mutual regard among its people, and in thanksgiving for the work of all Christians in the Province as they struggle for justice and self-determination; and be it further

Resolved, That the Secretary of the General Convention be instructed to send a copy of this resolution to Bishop Tutu and the Metropolitan of the Province by the most rapid means of communication available.
