Resolved, That the Executive Council, meeting in New Orleans, January 17-21, 2000, believes that the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service has followed the proper immigration regulations and procedures regarding the status of the minor Cuban national, Elian Gonzalez, determining after a thorough investigation that the INS had properly ordered Elian Gonzalez to be returned to Cuba and his natural father; and be it further Resolved, That the Council calls upon the United States government to support this determination and the judgement of the Attorney General of the United States, and promptly return the child to his natural father. |
