Resolved, That the Executive Council, meeting in Tampa, Florida, February 9-12, 2004, support and commend the Anglican Church of Korea and the Korean ecumenical community in their advocacy for the peaceful reunification of the Korean peninsula; and be it further

Resolved, That the Episcopal Church through its own offices and agencies and by appeal to the United States Government urge special attention and aid to the relief of humanitarian needs and development of the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea (North Korea) including poverty alleviation, food aid, energy development, transportation, education and protection of human rights and the environment; and be it further

Resolved, That the Church urge the end of political demonization and militaristic rhetoric toward the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea and its leaders by the United States in favor of a peaceful resolution; and be it further

Resolved, That the church urges the leaders of the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea to abandon its nuclear armaments program and that the leaders of the United States pledge not to attack preemptively the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea; and be it further

Resolved, That the leaders of the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea, the United States, Russia, the Peoples Republic of China, Japan and the Republic of Korea conclude a nonaggression pact that would move all parties toward a comprehensive peace formally ending the “state of war” that has existed since 1953; and be it further

Resolved, That the Council ask the United States to call on the People's Republic of China and Russia to allow entry in reasonable numbers of North Korean refugees and that the United States similarly move to welcome North Korean refugees into the United States.
