Resolved, That the Executive Council receive the report and the recommendations of the April 26-28, 1988 Post ACNAC Consultation (see appendix); and be it further

Resolved, That the Episcopal Church in the United States of America accepts its participation in the establishment of a Council of the Anglican Church in the Americas, under these proposed guidelines:

  1. That the Council of the Anglican Churches in the Americas be accountable to the General Convention, General Synod, Provincial Synod or equivalent legislative bodies in the member churches for the purpose of:
    1. Strengthening relationships with one another;
    2. Addressing common issues and concerns;
    3. Developing strategies for mission and ministry among member churches.
  2. That the membership of said Council be composed of: two representatives each from the Anglican Church of Canada, the Episcopal Church in the United States of America, the Church in the Province of the West Indies, The Episcopal Church of Brazil, the Anglican Church of the Southern Cone of America, and Province IX of the Episcopal Church; one representative each from the Extra-Provincial Dioceses of Cuba, Bermuda, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico and Venezuela.

Resolved, That the Executive Council recommend that the remaining funds which were available for ACNAC be used in the implementation of the establishment of a planning committee for the first meeting of the newly constituted Council.
