Resolves of the Executive Council

Resolved, That the Executive Council endorse the following resolution on support for autonomous dioceses and request the Bishop of Alabama, Chair of the Standing Committee on World Mission, to submit this resolution to the 69th General Convention meeting in Detroit in July 1988:

Resolved, The House of concurring, That this General Convention meeting in Detroit in 1988 reaffirm the principle that this Church will work in cooperation with each overseas diocese now a part of the Episcopal Church, toward autonomy (i.e., self- government, self-support and self-propagation) in ways that enhance and strengthen mutuality in mission; and be it further

Resolved, That this General Convention reaffirm its moral commitment to long term financial assistance and personal witness to the partnership between the Episcopal Church and its overseas dioceses as they become autonomous.
