Resolved, That the Executive Council of the Episcopal Church meeting in Louisville, KY, on June 16, 2005 renews its support for the Haiti resolution adopted at its meeting in Burlington, VT, June 11-14, 2004 and urges continued advocacy on the adoption of its various provisions, with immediate attention to the provision of Temporary Protected Status to Haitians residing in the U.S. who are in danger of deportation to Haiti; and be it further

Resolved, That the Presiding Bishop communicate to the U.S. Administration the deep concerns of the Episcopal Church over the tragedy facing the Haitian people, noting the special relation which the Episcopal Church has to Haiti as its largest diocese, and the many missions of the Episcopal Church contributing to the well-being of the Haitian people and now impeded by the horrendous levels of violence current in the country; and be it further

Resolved, That the US Government be urged to facilitate and support a negotiated peace among the various rival factions contributing to the ongoing violence in Haiti; and be it further

Resolved, That the Executive Council of the Church invite Dr. Guy Alexandre and Bishop Jean Zache Duracin to the next meeting of the council in Las Vegas, October 7-10, 2005 as a way of informing the council on the situation in Haiti and offering various strategies and interventions that might appropriately respond to the political and human crisis in Haiti; and be it further

Resolved, That the various members of the “Haiti Connection”, other entities of the Episcopal Church and our ecumenical partners be invited to join in advocacy on behalf of restoring peace and stability in Haiti and preventing the deportation of Haitians in the U.S. to Haiti by calling on the U.S. administration to immediately implement Temporary Protected Status for U.S. based Haitians in danger of being deported to Haiti; and be it further

Resolved, That the Executive Council support the Bishop of the Dominican Republic in requesting funds specifically designated to assist Haitians who are stranded as refugees in the Dominican Republic; and be it further

Resolved, That the US administration be urged take immediate action to support an enhanced multi-national (international) peace keeping force in Haiti with a mandate to restore security to Haiti, while respecting the human rights of all Haitians.
