Whereas, The Executive Council has received Resolution 12 of the 53rd Synod, Province of the Pacific (VIII); therefore be it Resolved, That the Secretary of the Executive Council communicate to the President and members of Congress the support of the Executive Council for the pending legislation extending support services to the Indochinese refugees beyond September 30, 1977, and request the General Secretary of the National Council of Churches to do likewise; and be it further Resolved, That the request to establish a Task Force to unify and coordinate initiatives within the Episcopal Church on immigration and refugee concerns be referred to its Ad Hoc Committee appointed to study the relations between the Episcopal Church and Church World Service; and be it further Resolved, That, through the Church Center Staff, the Executive Council ask the Immigration and Refugee Program of Church World Service to continue to expend the unspent federal funds in ecumenical and community projects, as far as is legally possible. |
