Whereas, This Executive Council and the Presiding Bishop's office have received numerous inquiries concerning the World Council of Churches grant to the Patriotic Front of Zimbabwe to be used for humanitarian purposes; therefore be it

Resolved, That the Executive Council adopt as its own the 1978 Lambeth Conference Resolution which reaffirms support of the WCC as follows:

"The (Lambeth) Conference urges that, in this thirtieth anniversary year of the World Council of Churches, all Churches of the Anglican Communion re-affirm their support and strengthen their understanding of this body, which is not only the most comprehensive expression of the ecumenical movement, but also the chief vehicle of world-wide ecumenical cooperation and service. It also asks the World Council of Churches to accept guidance given through section 3 of the (Lambeth) Conference, considering War and Violence:

  1. to re-examine our complicity with violence in its many forms;
  2. to take with the utmost seriousness the question which the teaching of Jesus places against all violence in human relationships."
