Whereas, The Executive Council asked the Board of the Presiding Bishop's Fund for World Relief to fund the Ad Hoc Committee on Immigration and Refugee Concerns; and Whereas, The Executive Council directed the Fund's Director to convene such a Committee; and Whereas, The Ad Hoc Committee on Immigration and Concerns having accomplished the purpose for which it was formed, and having with a great sense of devotion fulfilled its mandate in coordinating initiatives within the Church on Immigration and Refugee Concerns; therefore be it Resolved, That the Executive Council express its heart felt appreciation to the members of this Ad Hoc Committee for exemplary services rendered to the Church in unifying initiatives on Immigration and Refugee Concerns; and be it further Resolved, That the Convenor, The Rev. Canon Oliver B. Garver, Jr., Executive Assistant to the Bishop of Los Angeles whose tireless leadership has accomplished this difficult task, be commended for his devotion in this special ministry; and be it further Resolved, That having accomplished the first phase of this effort, the committee be discharged from its duties; and be it further Resolved, That such future needs in this area be met by the Refugee Sub-Committee of the Presiding Bishop's Fund for World Relief. |
