The director of Episcopal Migration Ministries, Richard Perkins, has condemned a recent proposal by the U.S. Commission on Immigration to cut by more than half the number of refugees admitted into the country. A United Nations commission estimates there are 16 million people who have left their home countries, and another 7 million are refugees within their countries. "Logic suggests that our willingness to resettle refugees should increase rather than diminish," Mr. Perkins said. Episcopal Migration Ministries resettles about 3,000 refugees yearly.
