Elected 1994, Day 1, served through end of Convention

Willis Barnum Coker McCarty was born in Jacksonville, FL in 1930, and earned his B.A. and M.A. from the University of the South, and was awarded a Doctor of Divinity degree by the university in 1997. Rev. McCarty served in several parishes in Florida before being called to St. Mark’s in Jacksonville in 1971, where he served until his retirement in 1995. Rev. McCarty has served in the Department of Missions, the Standing Commission of the Diocese of Florida, the Executive Council of the Diocese of Florida, and as Chaplain to the Florida National Guard, among others. He was a deputy to General Convention from 1973 to 1994. Rev. McCarty lives in Jacksonville with his wife, Betty Ann Roberts, with whom he has three children.
