For the first time in a Church of England diocese, the ban has been lifted on divorced people remarrying in church, according to The Telegraph of Great Britain. The Rt. Rev. Peter Forster, Bishop of Chester, announced the change March 5 after the diocesan synod voted 132-5 on March 2 for a motion that "there are circumstances in which divorced people might be remarried in church in the lifetime of their former spouse." |
