Leon E. Modeste (left), Director of the Episcopal Church's General Convention Special Program (GCSP), receives an award from Dr. Prezell R. Robinson, President of St. Augustine's College, Raleigh, N.C., "for his courageous, innovative leadership in paving the way for the 'new' mission of the Church in the Black and Brown communities." GCSP, which was established by the General Convention at Seattle in 1967, has provided more than $7 million in the funding of community projects throughout the United States and overseas.
