Hundreds of thousands of persons were made homeless when an earthquake destroyed most of Managua, the capital of Nicaragua, on December 23. Thousands were left dead or injured. The Episcopal Church has responded by sending $10,000 to aid in the efforts to get food and other necessities to the thousands of homeless survivors. The Presiding Bishop's Fund for World Relief and Interchurch Aid is seeking to raise $100,000 for emergency relief.
