THE RT. REV. JOHN E. HINES, Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, will preside over the House of Bishops and the General Convention at its triennial meeting in Louisville, Ky., Sept. 29 - Oct. 11. The 64th General Convention will deal with a number of significant issues, including the ordination of women to the priesthood and the episcopacy; revision of the Book of Common Prayer; empowerment; ecumenical concerns, including the Consultation on Church Union; marriage and divorce, and eco-justice and the church. Bishop Hines has announced his intention to resign his office at the Convention, effective May 1, 1974, and his successor will be elected during the 1973 Convention. (Please credit Dr. James Coffey.)
