About 200,000 people in the area of Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico were left homeless when the El Conejo ( The Rabbit) dam burst in August after torrential rains. Some of the people of Irapuato are shown above searching through the piles of rubble on the street for salvageable clothing. A $4,000 emergency grant from the Presiding Bishop's Fund for World Relief helped Bishop Jose G. Saucedo of the Diocese of Central and South Mexico to purchase and distribute food packages and blankets for the destitute in the stricken city. ( Photo by Nancy Howard.)
