Woman Elected Bishop in Diocese of New York. The Rev. Catherine S. Roskam was elected
suffragan bishop in the Diocese of New York June 10, becoming the fourth woman bishop in the
Episcopal Church. Pending her approval by a majority of bishops and diocesan standing
committees, she will be consecrated as bishop in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New
