Guam Mission: Archdeacon Jordan Peck, vicar of St John the Divine, Guam, reads the Gospel at the annual "Sunday on the Beach" Holy Communion. When Fr Peck came to Guam some 8 years ago, St John's was meeting in a parish hall. Both the Quonset hut chapel and the school had been demolished by Typhoon Karen in 1962. First priority in rebuilding was given to the island's educational needs; not until 1970 were they able to build a modern typhoon- and-earthquake proof church.
