Roman Catholic delegated observers to the World Council of Churches' Fifth Assembly take part in a concelebrated Mass at St. Paul's Chaplaincy Center on the University of Nairobi campus. The principal celebrant was Dutch-born Father Joseph Donders, Roman Catholic chaplain and professor of philosophy and religious studies at the university. Concelebrating the Mass with him were: Father Pierre Duprey, head of the Vatican delegation; Father Simon Amalorpavadass, India; Father John Hotchkin, director of the U.S. Bishops' Committee for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs; Father Antonio Javierre, S.D.B., Spain; Father Vincent Kanyonza, Uganda; Father Bonaventura Kloppenburg, Brazil; Msgr. Charles Moeller, secretary of the Vatican Secretariat for Christian Unity; and Msgr. Adrea Cordero Lanza Di Montezekolo, Pro-Secretary of the Pontifical Commission, Justice and Peace.
