St. Stephen's Episcopal Church has been a focal point of positive community development for the South End's black, Spanish-speaking, and poor white residents. At a Sunday Mass, Roman Catholic Seminarians from Boston's La Sallette Seminary play guitars and sing liturgical songs while the Rev. William D. Dwyer, vicar, administers Holy Communion. Fr. Dwyer has played a key role in getting some of the religious communities in Boston to support the South End Tenants Council. (All photos by St. Clair Bourne.)
