Province VIII Appoints Bryan Krislock as Executive Council representative

Bryan Krislock, 24, the operations officer of the Episcopal Diocese of Spokane, has been appointed to represent Province VIII on Executive Council.

The Rev. Jack Eastwood, Province VIII President, said Krislock was selected from a field of seven applicants because, "he represents to us a younger person in the church who has definite leadership--not only potential but actuality. He is very knowledgeable about the province and is able to represent it well in council."

In addition Krislock, "is strong as a communicator and very effective in our work in the province," Eastwood said. "A lot of people look to him for leadership, especially among the younger folks in the province."

As operations director of the Diocese of Spokane, he assists in planning and executing diocesan council meetings, serves as a staff liaison to the diocesan mission strategy committee, and assists with diocesan convention. He has also served as interim executive director of the diocesan Camp Cross, as communications associate and webmaster for the diocese. He has been employed with the diocese about five years.

He has extensive volunteer experience on the national, provincial and diocesan levels, including service as: General Convention lay deputy in Columbus, Ohio in 2006 and was elected to serve in that capacity in Anaheim in 2009. He has been a delegate to diocesan convention, a member of the provincial youth event design team and provincial youth council.

In recommending him for the position, Bishop James Waggoner Jr. of Spokane said of him: "He is dedicated to the building up of the church and already exercises considerable leadership responsibilities. He works comfortably with diverse groups and promotes healthy working relationships.

"Recently, he was a key leader in designed the WaterMark program, a new diocesan venture offering internships for leadership development of young adults. Bryan's breadth of participation includes organization and active support of Province VIII events."

Krislock, who holds a bachelor's degree in economics and political science from Western Washington University, could not be reached for comment. His first meeting with council will be June 13-15 meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

He fills the seat previously held by Ted Yumoto, formerly of the Diocese of San Joaquin. It was vacated after some members of the diocese voted to realign with the Anglican Province of the Southern Cone.
