The Rev. Victoria Duncan has been named program officer for CDO (Church Deployment Office): Office for Transition Ministry in the Mission Leadership Center of The Episcopal Church.

The announcement was made by the Board for Church Deployment in partnership with the Rev. Margaret Rose, director of the Mission Leadership Center.

In her new role, Duncan will assist clergy, laity and congregations during times of transition through support and resources. "We look forward to her collaborative leadership in the important work of transition ministry," commented Rose.

Most recently, Duncan was diocesan transition officer and Canon for Development of Mission and Ministry in the Diocese of Western New York. In addition to experience in parish ministry and diocesan leadership, prior to ordination Duncan was a college biochemistry major and worked as a scientific researcher in human and plant genetics for seven years.

"This diverse experience will serve the church well as we explore and implement new technologies and foster best practices for clergy and congregations," Rose added. The use of technology includes updating the clergy profile and matching system and the transition ministry database, Rose said in an interview.

Duncan will begin on July 1 and her office will be located at the Church Center in New York City. She plans to attend General Convention 2009 in Anaheim California, July 8-17.
