Committee on Effective Personnel Placement Appointed
Diocesan Press Service. March 3, 1967 [52-4]
The effective placement of clergy and professional personnel within the Episcopal Church will be the concern of a committee named Feb. 27 by Presiding Bishop Hines.
The committee, under the chairmanship of the Rt. Rev. Charles F. Hall, Bishop of New Hampshire, will focus primarily on ways in which such placement can be improved.
The House of Bishops, at its meeting in October 1986, called for the creation of a committee to study clergy placement. In December the Executive Council expanded the function of such a committee to include professional personnel placement and asked that the Council's Division of Christian Ministries be involved.
Among other areas, the committee will consider the function of a bishop in the deployment of clergy, particularly in parishes. It is expected that the committee will report its findings to the House of Bishops when it meets in Seattle in Sept.
Members of the committee are:
The Rt. Rev. Charles F. Hall Bishop of New Hampshire
The Rev. Jones B. Shannon Westport Point, Massachusetts
The Rt. Rev. W. Appleton Lawrence Retired Bishop of Western Massachusetts
The Very Rev. George M. Alexander Sewanee, Tennessee

The Rev. Shelby Rooks Princeton, New Jersey
The Rt. Rev. G. Francis Burrill Bishop of Chicago
Dr. Harold B. Whiteman, Jr. New York, New York
