New Christian Education Publications
Diocesan Press Service. February 6, 1968 [62-5]
New periodicals will soon be coming from the Executive Council's Department of Christian Education.
One, FINDINGS, will be a continuation of a publication in the Christian Education field that has been published for the past 15 years. Its content and format, however, will be redesigned.
The second, PERSPECTIVE, will be a simply designed newsletter for the professionally trained educators who work in parishes, dioceses or educational institutions.
It was apparent to the Department of Christian Education that two groups, each with distinct interests and background, were using FINDINGS. The first was composed of volunteer teachers and parents. The second was composed of professionally trained, full-time educators.
As one publication could not best serve the needs of both groups, it was decided to design two publications, coming out less frequently than the monthly FINDINGS, aimed specifically at each group.
FINDINGS, which will come out four times a year, will be similar in format to the present magazine, but redesigned and expanded. It will include background information articles, "think" pieces, resources on special topics such as sex education, inner-city education, etc., reviews of current books, films, records and television shows, editorials, worship resources and other such materials. The first issue will appear in June of 1968. Cost of subscriptions will be $2.00 per year, or $1.75 in bundles of 5 or more to one address.
PERSPECTIVE will include articles on current research and scholarship in the field, new methods, news of training opportunities, and annotated lists of resources. It will also appear four times a year and will be free.
