Three Men Elected Bishops

Diocesan Press Service. June 5, 1968 [66-18]

Three bishops-elect were recently chosen by the Diocese of Montana, the Diocese of San Joaquin and the Diocese of Northwest Texas.

Montana and San Joaquin elected the Rev. Jackson Earle Gilliam and the Rev. Victor M. Rivera, both to serve as Diocesan Bishops. Elected as Bishop Coadjutor of the Diocese of Northwest Texas was the Rev. Harold C. Gosnell.

The Rev. Mr. Gilliam is rector of the Church of the Incarnation in Great Falls, Mont. The Rev. Mr. Rivera, a native of Puerto Rico, is rector of St. Paul's, Visalia, Calif.

Dr. Gosnell is rector of St. Mark's, San Antonio. This parish is locally known as "the mother church of Bishops" as 10 clergymen have been elected to the episcopacy from this church. Eight, including Dr. Gosnell, have been rectors and two others served as assistant rectors.
