Three Missionary Bishops to be Consecrated

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The consecrations of three priests, elected as Missionary Bishops of the Episcopal Church during the October meeting of the House of Bishops in Augusta, Ga., will take place during January.

On January 10, the Ven. George E. Haynsworth, Archdeacon of Managua, Nicaragua, will be consecrated Missionary Bishop of Nicaragua. Consecrator will be the Rt. Rev. Francisco Reus-Froylan, Missionary Bishop of Puerto Rico. Co-consecrators will be the Rt. Rev. David E. Richards, former Bishop of Costa Rica, and the Rt. Rev. Chilton Powell, Bishop of Oklahoma. The service will take place in St. Francis' Church, Managua.

On January 12, the Very Rev. J. Antonio Ramos, Dean of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, San Juan, Puerto Rico, will be consecrated Missionary Bishop of Costa Rica. The service will be held at the Colegio Metodista San Pedro, San Jose, Costa Rica. Consecrator will be Bishop Reus-Froylan. Co-consecrators will be the Rt. Rev. A. Ervine Swift, former Bishop of Puerto Rico, and Bishop Richards.

On January 25, in Ontario High School Gymnasium, Ontario, Ore., the Very Rev. William B. Spofford, Jr., Dean of St. Michael's Cathedral, Boise, Idaho, will be consecrated Missionary Bishop of Eastern Oregon. Consecrator will be the Rt. Rev. John E. Hines, Presiding Bishop. Co-consecrators will be the Rt. Rev. Norman L. Foote, Bishop of Idaho, and the Rt. Rev. Lane W. Barton, Retired Bishop of Eastern Oregon.
