Hospitality of Arthur Ben Chitty, Sollace Freeman, and other Sewanee people was cordial indeed; lovely accommodations, hosting at happy hour and dinner first evening with a talk by new dean of women; a chance to tour campus during second day's time-out; dinner and tour of the Academy that evening, then a full-scale presentation by faculty and students of The School of Theology. Photos were made of guests as a group and of seminarians from our home Dioceses.

How we spent our work time: Format was informal. Individual concerns we listed at outset are grouped below. We didn't deal with them in any particular sequence, and obviously didn't have time to pursue many of the open avenues. Spent our time interchanging ideas and concerns, and a good bit of "how to do it" conversation.

1 - Role and worth of diocesan publication:

Is a paper worth it? The news or what "they" want. News reporting versus public relations. Operating policies. Censorship by those in charge. How to maintain and pay for mailing lists. Advertising or no. How to involve more segments of the Diocese in the paper. Proportion of national to diocesan news printed. Production mechanics.

2 - What helpful can we do together?

NET-11 beginnings. Possible ways of sharing news and/or in depth stories on issues with one another. Network idea, either separate from or switchboarded by Diocesan Press Service.

3 - How can publication be supplemented? Other media? Area communication in the Diocese?

4 - Diocesan Departments of Communication. How do they work?

Where do we go from here? To Chicago, we hope, April 14-16. Sewanee has invited us back next fall and would be happy to make this an annual event.
