Diocesan Press Service. March 29, 1972 [72035]

NEW YORK, N.Y. (DPS) -- The Rev. Charles R. Supin has been named Coordinator in the Office of Development of the Executive Council of the Episcopal Church.

The Rev. Mr. Supin will work part-time with Oscar C. Carr, Jr., Vice President for Development, in coordinating the program and budget plans of the Episcopal Church in preparation for the next General Convention at Louisville, Ky., in October, 1973.

In February, 1972, the Executive Council adopted a plan whereby the Church at large is asked to participate in an information-sharing process to develop the program and budget for 1974-75. The process, which will be directed jointly by Mr. Carr and Bishop Roger Blanchard, Executive Vice President of the Council, calls for involvement, discussion and debate at all levels of the Church structure and within the community.

The Rev. Mr. Supin has been rector since 1962 of St. John's Episcopal Church, Far Rockaway, N.Y., in the Diocese of Long Island. He will continue his parish responsibilities at St. John's while serving part-time in his new post.

For several years the Rev. Mr. Supin has been host on various radio and television interview and discussion programs in New York City. He has also been lecturer in communications at the Mercer School of Theology in Garden City, N.Y., and has served for the past four years as director of communication for the Long Island Council of Churches.

The Rev. Mr. Supin received his B.A. degree from Adelphi University, Garden City, in 1955, and his M.Div. degree from Berkeley Divinity School, New Haven, Conn., in 1960. He is married to the former Benita P. Percik and they have two children.
