Churchmen Asked to Suggest Nominees for Executive Council
Diocesan Press Service. September 21, 1972 [72126]
In an effort to give any churchman who desires to do so an opportunity to suggest nominees for membership on the Executive Council of the Episcopal Church, the Joint Committee on nominations for the Executive Council will consider any nominations made by members of the Church.
Two bishops, three priests, and 10 lay persons (the incumbents include eight men and two women) are to be elected when the General Convention meets in Louisville. Ky., in September - October, 1973, and the Committee to Nominate has been instructed to present to the Houses of General Convention names of at least two persons for each vacancy.
Persons desiring to submit a name for nomination are asked to give a brief biography of the person suggested, which will enable the Committee to bring in the names of representative people to the General Convention. The biography should be typewritten and sent to either the Rt. Rev. C. Gresham Marmion, Convener. 421 South Second Street, Louisville, Ky,. 40202, or Dr. Wilber G. Katz, 435 Starin Road, Apt. 301AA, Whitewater, Wis. 53109.
Names should be in the hands of one of these two members of the Nominating Committee by December 15, 1972, and no one's name should be submitted until that person has agreed to serve if nominated and elected.
