Presiding Bishop's Fund for World Relief

Diocesan Press Service. January 26, 1973 [73022]

Voluntary contributions to the Presiding Bishop's Fund for World Relief reached $720,558.21 during 1972 -- approximately 21.5 percent higher than in the previous year. It is hoped that the 1973 goal of $1,100,000 can be reached.

This year' s World Relief Octave has been scheduled for Sunday, March 25 through Sunday, April 1 (Lent III through Lent IV), though all of the promotional materials have been so designed that they can be used at any time throughout the year.

A presentation piece illustrating the new materials, including a filmslip and recording (which has a personal appeal from the Presiding Bishop on the flip side), has been mailed to all active bishops, clergy, Christian education leaders, World Relief chairmen, et al. Included in the items offered are mite boxes and a special news sheet for use in connection with the Church School Missionary Offering. This blue news sheet places special emphasis on the Fund's work in Bangladesh and the Sudan and lists resources and suggestions for church school leaders.

Enclosed is a black and white glossy of the 1973 red, white and blue poster featuring the theme, "One way to help a broken world -- Give to the Presiding Bishop's Fund for World Relief. " Also, you will find enclosed a sample of the new white adult news sheet which, in some cases, can be bound into local publications for broader circulation. These can be requested in any quantity from: The Order Department, Executive Council, 815 Second Avenue, New York, N.Y. 10017.
