Anglican Fellowship of Prayer Conference to be Held

WINTER PARK, Fla. -- The Rt. Rev. C. Kilmer Myers, Bishop of California, and Catherine Marshal, noted author and lecturer, will be featured at the 15th Annual Conference of the Anglican Fellowship of Prayer May 6-8, 1973 in Orlando, Florida.
The Anglican Fellowship of Prayer is an international organization which supports and promotes the work of the prayer group movement growing within the Church today. The AFP was founded by Helen Smith Shoemaker, widow of the Rev. Samuel Shoemaker, and by Polly Wiley. The Rev. Donald M. Hultstrand, rector of St. Paul's Church, Duluth, Minnesota, is chairman of the International Executive Committee.
Bishop Myers, famous throughout the country for his strong Christian social conscience, is also known to his peers as a man of deep and abiding faith. He will conduct the Conference and deliver several addresses.
Catherine Marshal is the author of an impressive list of best sellers including A Man Called Peter, the biography of her late husband, To Live Again, and Christy. She will speak at the Conference banquet.
Workshops on various aspects of prayer will be conducted by nationally known leaders in the prayer movement. Themes for the workshops will include: Personal Discipline and Prayer; Roadblocks to Prayer; The Priest and the Prayer Group; When Man Listens, God Speaks ; Prayer Unites Those Who Differ; Prayer and Response -- Action and Outreach; Prayer and Healing; and a workshop for young people.
Orlando, located near the center of Florida, is called "The City Beautiful ". It is one hour away from the Atlantic Ocean and one and one-half hours from the Gulf of Mexico. Nearby are Daytona Beach, the NASA Space Center, and Disney World, the new home of Mickey Mouse.
The Rt. Rev. William H. Folwell, Bishop of Central Florida, is host for the Conference. In issuing his invitation to AFP he remarked that Central Florida is not only a tourist mecca. "Here," he said, "we are also experiencing a revival of faith, an emergence of witness and work, and a new joy and enthusiasm in Christians of all denominations."
