Diocesan Press Service. June 15, 1973 [73154]

EVANSTON, ILL. -- A supplementary issue of the Anglican Theological Review (ATR) will contain essays dealing with some of the "critical issues facing the Episcopal Church at its 1973 General Convention in Louisville, Kentucky."

The special General Convention number, scheduled for publication in late August, is the second in a supplementary series to be issued by the ATR this summer. The July issue contains essays on "A Creative Recovery of American Tradition" in celebration of the bicentennial of the nation.

The General Convention issue will include essays on the marriage canon, the episcopacy, ecumenism, ordination of women to the priesthood, theological education, liturgical revision, the Pentecostal movement, social action, and spiritual renewal.

Authors include O. C. Edwards, Jr., Urban T. Holmes, III, Anthony Hanson, Bishop Stephen F. Bayne, Peter Day, J. Robert Wright, Robert F. Capon, Ellen Barrett, H. Boone Porter, Louis Weil, Richard A. Norris, Jr., Louis Bouyer, Roger W. Raskopf. Norman J. Faramelli, and Tilden H. Edwards, Jr.

In the introduction to the special number, W. Taylor Stevenson, editor, said, "With a few exceptions, these issues are matters of concern far beyond the bounds of the Episcopal Church."

The editors of the ATR hope, Dr. Stevenson said, that the essays in the special issue "will assist those in the Episcopal Church and beyond in being attentive and responsible as they respond to the problems and opportunities by a world of often bewildering change. "

Individual copies of the special General Convention issue sell for $2.25 per copy, with a 10 percent discount on 10 or more copies to the same address. Orders should be placed by July 15, and should be addressed to the Anglican Theological Review, 600 Haven Street, Evanston, Ill. 60201.
