BTE Names Seminarian Consultant

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The appointment of a seminarian consultant to the Board for Theological Education (BTE) of the Episcopal Church has been announced by the Rev. Dr. Almus M. Thorp, executive director, and the Rt. Rev. Ned Cole, Bishop of the Diocese of Central New York, chairman.

William D. Nix, Jr., a native of Amarillo, Tex., and presently a senior at the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest, Austin, Tex., will be working with the BTE for two academic years. As a seminarian consultant Mr. Nix will visit with fellow seminarians in the theological institutions of the Episcopal Church and, together with BTE members who are students, will represent the student point of view to the Board.

As consultant Mr. Nix succeeds the Rev. Jerre W. Feagin, Jr., a recent graduate of General Theological Seminary, New York City, and currently on the staff of St. John's Church, Roanoke, Va.

Mr. Nix received his B. A. degree from Texas A & M University in 1963 and studied at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in the fall of that year. In 1966 he pursued graduate studies in Animal Science and Agricultural Economics at Texas A & M.

He was the Republican nominee for state representative in the 79th District of Texas in 1970.

A communicant of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, Pampa, Tex., Mr. Nix is a candidate for Holy Orders from the Diocese of Northwest Texas. He has served as a member of the vestry of his parish and a delegate to the Council of his diocese. In 1969-70 he was a member of the nominating committee for a Bishop Coadjutor of the Diocese of Northwest Texas. He was a trustee of the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest, representing his diocese, in 1971-72.

Mr. Nix is married to the former Puddin Hermann and they have one son.
