Two Conferences Announced at AJTI

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Two conferences at the Episcopal Church's Absalom Jones Theological Institute (AJTI), have been announced by the Very Rev. Quinland R. Gordon.
A conference on the ministry will be held at the AJTI, May 17-19, sponsored jointly by the bishops of Province IV and the province's committee on equal opportunity and recruitment. The School of Theology at the University of the South, Sewanee, Tenn., is assisting with the planning and operation of the conference.
The theme is, "The Challenge of the Christian Priesthood -- Is it for You?" The conference, designed for men 32 years of age and older, will explore the diaconate, the priesthood, and the worker priest movement.
The leaders of the conference include the Rev. Canon Nelson Pinder, Winter Park, Fla.; Dr. John M. Gessell, Sewanee, Tenn.; Dr. Robert A. Bennett, Jr., Cambridge, Mass.; Dr. Eutis Smith, Jackson, Miss.; the Rev. Edward Rodman, Boston, Mass.; and the Very Rev. Quinland R. Gordon, Atlanta, Ga.
The second event is a continuing education seminar for young adults, June 28-30, on the theme, "Values and the Church. " Participants will include persons who have completed the junior year in high school through college-age youths.
The seminar will concentrate on three areas : male and female relationships; why education? ; and what does it mean to be "black" ?
The Rev. Kyle McGee, chaplain at Georgetown University, will be the coordinator and resource leader for the seminar.
The AJTI is the Episcopal Church affiliate of the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta.
