Bishop Hanchett of Hawaii Recovering from Surgery

HONOLULU, Hawaii -- The Rt. Rev. E. Lani Hanchett, Bishop of Hawaii, underwent surgery for cancer on December 27 and is now recovering at home in Maunawili after a ten-day stay in St. Francis Hospital, Honolulu.

For the next month or so Bishop Hanchett plans to concentrate on his continued recovery of strength and health and in post-operative therapy. He will, however, begin make Sunday visitations to parishes beginning on January 19th.

During his absence from the office he has designated the Rev. James G. Long, canon to the ordinary, to serve as Commissary in the administration of the Diocese.
