Announcing a New Major Fine Arts Prize

NEW YORK, N. Y. -- The Dean of the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, the Very Rev. James P. Morton, has announced the opening of competition for the first annual Aubrey Cartwright Prize for Religious Art. This new major fine arts contest carries a first prize cash award of $5,000 and $1,000 for second place. The prize winner shall also receive a one-man show of his works in the Cathedral's new Exhibit Hall.

The painting and sculpture contest requires that entries indicate the artist's religious concerns. Artists may enter the competition by submitting slides or photos of their work before June 30, 1975 together with a $5 entry fee payable to the Aubrey Cartwright Fund. Judges using the photos or slides will tender their invitation to individual artists to send their works to be shown in a group show at the Cathedral opening Advent Sunday, November 30. Invitational artists will have their work represented in the Aubrey Cartwright Prize catalogue annual, to be issued jointly by the Cathedral and the Fund.
