New President and Dean Installed February 3

EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Very Rev. Otis Carl Edwards, Jr., President and Dean of Seabury-Western Theological Seminary (Episcopal) was formally installed on Monday, February 3, 1975.
The installation service was held in St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 1509 Ridge, Evanston.
This celebration of a New Ministry was at 10:30 a.m. The celebrant of the Eucharist was the Rt. Rev. Philip F. McNairy, chairman of the board of trustees.
Presenting the Dean at the institution were: The Rev. Jack B. Van Hooser, of the faculty; Mr. John W. Seabury, chairman of the executive committee; the Very Rev. Theodore R. Gracia, president of the alumni association, and Leslie D. Combs, president of the student senate.
The Rt. Rev. James W. Montgomery, vice chairman of the board, and Bishop McNairy delivered the charges to the new President and Dean.
A series of gifts symbolic of Dean Edward's new ministry was presented during the service by Victoria Collins, a student's spouse; Evelyn Hoaglund, president of the woman's board; Professor Van Hooser of the faculty; Father Gracia for the alumni; Perry W. Collins, Jr. for the students; Walton Miller for the community children; and John Seabury for the trustees.
Special music was provided by the Seabury-Western Schola Cantorum and the Nashotah Chorale under the direction of Douglas E. Peterson, director of music and organist.
There was an academic procession of the official representatives of other educational institutions.
Following the service a luncheon for the guests was served in the parish hall.
