Hispanic Ministry Consultation Held
Diocesan Press Service. April 23, 1975 [75143]
NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Delegates from eight dioceses and members of the National Commission on Hispanic Affairs (NCHA) of the Episcopal Church attended a consultation on a Hispanic ministry on April 8 at the Episcopal Church Center.
The purpose of the consultation was to bring together a representative group of persons presently at work in the Spanish-speaking congregations and religious centers to share the things they have been accomplishing as well as to plan ways for developing urgently needed pastoral, educational, evangelistic, liturgical, and social resources for parishes engaged in Hispanic programs.
The participants approved several resolutions dealing with the revision of materials and liturgy for ministering to Hispanic congregations. Members of the group expressed the need for developing and publishing Hispanic material. It was also suggested that the office of the NCHA prepare a directory of social services available to the Hispanic population in the United States.
The consultation was welcomed by and received the blessings of the Rt. Rev. Richard B. Martin, the executive for ministries of the staff.
Representatives were present from the Dioceses of Connecticut, Long Island, Massachusetts, Newark, New Jersey, New York, Southeast Florida, and Washington.
