Diocesan Press Service. June 11, 1975 [75229]
CHICAGO, Ill. -- INTEGRITY, Inc., the national organization of Gay Episcopalians, announces plans to hold its first annual meeting in Chicago in August 1975. The date set is for the weekend of 8th-10th; and Cambridge University theologian Norman Pittenger is expected as one of the principal speakers.
Arrangements are being made by the Chicago local chapter of Integrity (Convenor Jim Wickliff, P.O. Box 2516, Chicago, Ill. 60690), and further details may be had from the national office at 701 Orange Street, No. 6, Fort Valley, Ga. 31030.
INTEGRITY began in October 1974 as a small abolitionist Gay paper, GAY EPISCOPAL FORUM, and by January 1975 responded to a growing demand for a more comprehensive structure by incorporating as a nonprofit religious, educational, literary and charitable organization. Already there are local chapters formed or forming in 12 cities in the United States and Canada.
The FORUM is available, 10 issues for $5, from the Georgia office. Founders and trustees of the organization are Dr. Louie Crew and his husband Mr. Ernest Clay. Associate editors include Ellen Barrett, Dan Fee, the Rev. Michael G. Koonsman, and Brother Thomas Williams. Membership is over 280 nationally.
