Carroll E. Simcox Honored in New York

Diocesan Press Service. October 6, 1975 [75339]

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- A reception honoring the Rev. Carroll E. Simcox, Ph.D., and the publication of his latest book, A TREASURY OF QUOTATIONS ON CHRISTIAN THEMES, took place on September 15 at the Guild Hall of St. Thomas Church, New York City.

Besides drawing representatives of the religious news media, the event attracted local clergy such as the Rev. C. FitzSimons Allison of Grace Church; the Very Rev. Roland Foster, dean of the General Theological Seminary; and the Very Rev. Robert F. Capon, Port Jefferson, N.Y. Several members of the Executive Council of the Episcopal Church, which convened the next day, attended as well.

The editor of The Living Church since 1964, Dr. Simcox assembled the "gems of wisdom and wit" within his book from the Bible, world literature, and religious writers. His purpose, he said, was to make available to clergymen and lay readers alike a reference guide to words "fitly spoken" on the great themes of Christian belief such as the Life of the Spirit, Christ and His Church, God, and Creation. A TREASURY OF QUOTATIONS ON CHRISTIAN THEMES is available from The Seabury Bookstore, 815 Second Ave., New York, N. Y. 10017, in cloth at $12.95, or from other related bookstores.
