MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The Rt. Rev. John M. Allin, Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, will be the speaker at the closing banquet at the triennial convention of the Church Periodical Club (CPC) in Minneapolis, Minn., September 10, 1976.
The CPC, an independent agency in the Episcopal Church, will hold its meeting September 8-10, 1976, at the Curtis Hotel in Minneapolis, a few days before the opening of the General Convention of the Episcopal Church in the same city.
"The purpose of the Church Periodical Club Triennial," according to Mrs. Douglas Brown, Dallas, Tex., national publicity chairman, "is to share, plan, learn, and set goals for the next three years." Officers will be elected during the business session.
"The goal of the Church Periodical Club," Mrs. Brown said, "is to furnish reading material, both religious and secular, to people who could not otherwise get it. CPC works at home and around the world to help others to learn, to grow, and to know someone cares."
She said that many overseas missionary bishops will be in attendance during the meeting and they will be honored with a buffet supper. Several of them will speak at the convention about their work. A workshop for CPC diocesan directors will be held and reports from them on work in their dioceses will be heard.
Some of the CPC board members and diocesan directors plan to remain in Minneapolis for the Episcopal Church's General Convention, which is scheduled to meet September 11-23, 1976.
