Assistant Press Officer Appointed to Staff

NEW YORK N. Y. -- William Drew Dearnaley has been appointed assistant press officer at the Episcopal Church Center, effective June 1, by the Rt. Rev. John M. Allin, Presiding Bishop.

In this position Mr. Dearnaley will assist the press officer, Walter H. Boyd, in providing information on the General Church Program, the activities of national Church agencies, and the wide range of general Church concerns to the diocesan press, the general Church publications, and the secular press.

A native of Beacon, N.Y., Mr. Dearnaley received his B.A. degree from Lynchburg (Va.) College in 1968 and his M. Div. degree from Episcopal Divinity School, Cambridge, Mass., in 1976. He is a candidate for Holy Orders in the Diocese of New York.

Before enrolling in seminary, Mr. Dearnaley was a reporter on the Poughkeepsie (N. Y.) Journal, reporter and telegraph editor of the Lynchburg News, and copyreader and make-up editor for the Trenton (N.J.) Times. He also served on the news staff of WGNY-AM, Newburgh, N.Y.

In 1968 he was married to Carol-Ann Batchelder.
