Cesaretti Named to Hunger Office
Episcopal News Service. June 8, 1976 [76192]
NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The Rev. Charles A. Cesaretti has been appointed to the Episcopal Church Center Staff to direct and coordinate the church's hunger programs. The Presiding Bishop, the Rt. Rev. John M. Allin, made the appointment in early June.
In his new post, Fr. Cesaretti will be supporting and coordinating existing church hunger programs and will serve as a link to other denominational efforts, but the major focus of his work will be developing a network of programs within the church that will reach down to the parish level.
This effort will be launched at a June 15-17 meeting of representatives from all the provinces who will attempt to identify priorities and strategies for the planned network. From that start, Fr. Cesaretti will begin actively recruiting people for parish and diocesan programs and will serve as a resource and support as these groups attempt to respond to hunger problems in their areas.
Fr. Cesaretti, a graduate of Rutgers University and the Philadelphia Divinity School, also holds a Th.M. and is a Ph.D. candidate at the Princeton Theological Seminary. He was ordained deacon and priest in 1965 and has served parishes in Plainfield, Linden and Westfield, N.J. For the last few years, the 35-year-old Trenton native has concentrated on Christian education programs; serving as a regional co- ordinator in Province II, and as a consultant to the Diocese of New Jersey and the Executive Council, and an interdenominational conference called the National Event for Christian Educators. He is a contributing editor to the AWARE notebook.
