NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The Stewardship/Development Officer of the Episcopal Church and his Church of England counterparts have opened a dialogue which may mean closer consultation in this field in coming months.

Oscar C. Carr Jr. took part in July in a conference of Diocesan Stewardship Advisers in Hereford, England, and reported that, in the field of stewardship, the concerns and problems were similar, "only differing in degree and needed emphasis."

After addressing the group, Mr. Carr was closely questioned on U. S. church methods and spent another day in discussions. He praised the Anglican officers for their perception and directness and singled out one speaker for special praise, saying, "The Bishop of Bedford gave as fine an address on the theology and history of stewardship as I've ever heard. If this learned group can challenge and then support our Episcopal theology and methodology, it will be very reinforcing."

The Anglicans, in turn, have asked Mr. Carr for some printed materials on stewardship and indicated that they may invite a team of Episcopal stewardship experts to England next year for further consultations.
