Training Session for Venture Visitors Planned
Episcopal News Service. January 6, 1977 [77010]
NEW YORK, N.Y. -- A training session will be held in Louisville, Ky., Feb. 7-9, for Episcopal Church leaders -- bishops, priests, lay persons -- who will make consultation visits to leaders in the dioceses of the Church this spring to discuss the Venture in Mission program.
The General Convention approved the Venture program of renewal and missionary outreach at its meeting last September in Minneapolis.
Teams of three persons -- including Executive Council members and staff and others from throughout the Church -- will respond to invitations from the dioceses of the Church in order to consult with them and to record their suggestions and responses.
The diocesan visits, which will be scheduled between Feb. 14 and May 31 this year, will establish a collaborative base for the challenge gifts phase of the program beginning in October, 1977, and the Churchwide effort beginning in January, 1979.
The training session, which will involve approximately 80 participants, has been called by Mrs. Seaton Bailey, Griffin, Gallup, George., and Bishop Harold C. Gosnell of West Texas, who jointly chair the committee responsible for this phase of the program. The Rt. Rev. Richard Millard took up his duties as coordinator of the Venture program in January.
