Administrators to Study Taxation and Budgets
Episcopal News Service. August 11, 1977 [77265]
NEW YORK, N. Y. -- The Finance Office of the Executive Council of the Episcopal Church and the Church Pension Fund and affiliates have planned two five-day workshops to brief diocesan officers on developments in church taxation, budgeting and insurance issues.
The workshops --- designed primarily for diocesan treasurers and administrators -- will take place the week of Oct. 24 in Scottsdale, Ariz., and the week of Oct. 31 in Greenwich, Conn.
The first two days of each workshop will be devoted to insurance and risk management subjects, including a report on the church-wide study of property and liability insurance needs of churches and church-related institutions and discussion of risk managment programs for dioceses and parishes.
Another major block of the workshops will be devoted to three topics: a draft position paper by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants proposing audit guidelines for non-profit organizations, and taxation and church property and development of budgets.
A third block of time is being left for suggested agenda items to promote exchange of ideas and programs.
Information on the workshops can be obtained from either the Church Pension Fund and affiliates through Mr. Rodney Smith (800 Second Avenue, New York, N.Y. 10017) or from the treasurer's office at the Episcopal Church Center (815 Second Avenue, New York, N.Y. 10017).
