ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Two Episcopal diocesan publications and the magazine Cathedral Age were among winners of the Associated Church Press Awards given here at the ACP annual convention.

A fourth Anglican periodical, the Canadian Churchman which is the national newspaper of the Anglican Church of Canada, received the only newspaper general excellence award.

The Virginia Churchman -- newspaper of the Diocese of Virginia -- was cited for best editorial in a general audience publication for an editorial written by the editor, the Rev. Benjamin P. Campbell. The ACP said that in the piece entitled "'Promise You Won't Tell," Campbell "discusses an important and controversial issue (intercommunion) with powerful, persuasive and well reasoned arguments."

In another category, the Colorado Episcopalian also won an award for editorial writing in a special audience publication for a piece in its June, 1977 issue which the citation called a "gentle, nostalgic push toward acceptance of and cooperation with the Church's 'Partners in Mission' program. The author has written simply, persuasively and with style."

Cathedral Age, the quarterly publication of the Protestant Episcopal Cathedral Foundation, was hailed for producing the best black and white magazine cover in its Spring issue.
